Dystopian Novel Project--Due 4/25
Monday, April 1, 2019We finished reading and discussing Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal." Students should write the precis for his satire as homework.
Tuesday, April 2, 2019Students discussed the precis for Swift's satire. Then students read Mark Twain's satirical speech "Advice to Youth." Annotate for SOAPSTone and indicate with a star (*) spots you can see the satire.
Wednesday, April 3, 2019In class, we completed our DO NOW (quotation argument analysis), discuss Twain's true claim in his satire "Advice to Youth," and used remaining time for reading and completing our 2nd reading journal.
Thursday, April 4-Friday, April 5, 2019We will be reading Binyavanga Wainaina’s "How to Write about Africa" and setting up a writing assignment for Friday. Directions for the writing assignment are located in the powerpoint.
